Questions To Ask Before You Book Your Wedding Photographer

It’s extremely important to make sure you and your photographer are on the same page prior to your special day. Asking these questions can help maintain clear and consistent communication with your photographer, as well as remove a lot of stress on your wedding day.

How many years experience do you have?

This is the most special day in your and your partner’s life! You want to be sure you are capturing memories with the best of the best, and we all know practice makes perfect.

What is your photography style?

Photographers are artists and every artist has their own personal style. Make sure to check out your photographer’s previous work, via social media or their website, to be sure you like their artistic flare.

How familiar are you with the venue? 

There is a good chance your photographer has photographed your venue before, but be sure to check in with your photographer to see how familiar they are with your venue. Great photographers will research the space before the event and make sure to get familiar with the space before they start shooting.

Is it possible to go to different locations for photos throughout the day?

Many weddings have multiple events and multiple locations for those events. Your wedding photographer should be flexible about multiple shooting locations, but be sure to discuss with them where exactly you’re going to be so they can plan accordingly.

What is the turnaround time for products? 

Be sure to chat with your photographer about when you should expect to receive the final product. It’s important that you and your photographer are are on the same page regarding timelines and expectations.

What is your payment policy? 

Again, it’s important to check in with your photographer about their payment policy so you’re both on the same page. You want to keep an open line of communication and avoid confusion in the future.
